What counts as an emergency
No heat when it's below freezing. No cooling during a heat warning, or for anyone with a health condition. A gas smell (call Enbridge at 1-866-763-5427 or 911 first, then us). A carbon monoxide alarm (leave the house, call 911, then us once it's clear). Water pouring from a water heater. If it's not one of these, you'll usually save money by booking a regular next-day call, and we'll tell you that honestly on the phone.
What to do while you wait
For no heat: set the thermostat to heat and a few degrees above room temperature, check the furnace switch (it looks like a light switch, usually on or near the furnace) and the breaker, and change the filter if it's dirty. Open cabinet doors under sinks on exterior walls so pipes stay warm. For no cooling: switch the system off if you see ice on the lines, and keep blinds closed on the sunny side. For a gas smell or CO alarm: get out first, call the utility or 911, then call us.
After-hours pricing
Emergency calls outside business hours carry an after-hours premium on the diagnostic fee, which we tell you on the phone before dispatching a technician. Repair pricing is the same flat-rate book we use during the day, and you approve it before the work starts. Comfort Club members pay no after-hours premium at all.
