General

6 questions
How quickly can you come out?

Same day for most calls in our core area, and around the clock for no-heat and no-cooling emergencies. We give you an honest arrival window when you book and text you when the technician is on the way.

Do you charge to come out and look?

For repairs there's a flat diagnostic fee to come out and find the problem; it comes off the bill if you proceed with the repair. Quotes for new equipment are free, in writing and with no obligation.

Are your technicians licensed?

Yes. Every technician who touches a gas appliance holds a TSSA G2 gas licence, our refrigeration work is done by licensed technicians, and the company carries full liability insurance. We're happy to show you the licences.

What areas do you serve?

We're based in Alliston and serve all of New Tecumseth, Bradford West Gwillimbury, Innisfil, Essa, Adjala-Tosorontio and King, plus Barrie, Newmarket, Bolton, Caledon, Orangeville and Shelburne. If you're nearby and not listed, call; we probably cover you.

Do you offer financing and handle rebates?

Yes. New equipment can be financed with monthly payments on approved credit, and when a system qualifies for a provincial or federal rebate we handle the application and paperwork for you. See the rebates and financing page for current programs.

What brands do you install?

We install Lennox, Carrier, Daikin, Mitsubishi, Napoleon and Goodman, chosen for reliability and local parts availability, and we service every brand on the market. The recommendation always starts with what your house needs, not with a logo.

Rebates & financing

4 questions
What rebates are available for a heat pump in Ontario right now?

Programs change often, which is why we don't print numbers here that could be stale by the time you read them. In general, provincial and federal programs reward cold-climate heat pumps, and the largest amounts go to homes switching away from oil, propane or electric resistance heat. When we quote a system we confirm the current programs, the dollar amounts and any audit requirements in writing.

Do I need an energy audit to get a rebate?

Some programs require a home energy audit before and after the installation by a registered energy advisor; others only need the installer's paperwork. We tell you which applies to your system and, if an audit is needed, we book it and coordinate both visits.

How does financing work?

You apply through our lending partner, usually approved the same day on approved credit. Choose a term from one to ten years with fixed monthly payments, and pay it off early any time with no penalty. The payment is often close to what the new system saves you on gas and hydro.

Can I combine a rebate with financing?

Yes. The common approach is to finance the full installed price, then put the rebate cheque against the loan when it arrives a few weeks after installation, which lowers the balance and the remaining payments.

Furnace Repair

5 questions
How fast can you get here for a furnace with no heat?

Same day for most calls in our core area, and 24 hours a day for no-heat emergencies. When you call we give you an honest arrival window and text you when the technician is on the way.

What does a furnace repair cost?

You pay a flat diagnostic fee for us to come out and find the problem. We then give you a written price for the repair, and if you go ahead, the diagnostic fee is waived. Igniters, flame sensors and capacitors are typically in the low hundreds; blower motors and control boards cost more. Nothing is done until you approve the number.

Why does my furnace keep turning on and off?

Short cycling has a few common causes: a clogged filter restricting airflow, a blocked intake or exhaust vent, a limit switch tripping from overheating, a dirty flame sensor, or a furnace that was oversized for the house. Change the filter first. If it keeps happening, book a call, because repeated short cycling wears parts out quickly.

Do you repair all furnace brands?

Yes. We service every major brand, including Lennox, Carrier, Trane, Goodman, Amana, York, Keeprite, Rheem, Bryant and Napoleon, plus older units that are no longer made. Common parts are on the truck; brand-specific parts are usually available next day.

Is it safe to keep running a furnace that smells like gas?

No. If you smell gas, get everyone out, do not operate light switches or appliances, and call Enbridge Gas at 1-866-763-5427 or 911 from outside the house. Once the utility has made it safe, call us to find and fix the cause.

Furnace Installation

5 questions
How much does a new furnace cost in Ontario?

A high-efficiency gas furnace installed in our area typically runs from the mid four thousands for a single-stage unit in a straightforward replacement to the high six thousands for a modulating furnace with new venting. Size, staging, brand and how much venting and electrical work is needed all move the number. Our quotes are free, in writing, and show three options side by side.

How long does a furnace last?

Fifteen to twenty years with regular maintenance. Past fifteen, parts get harder to find, efficiency drops and repair bills start to add up, which is usually the point where replacement pays for itself.

How long does the installation take?

Most replacements are a single day. The crew arrives in the morning, removes the old furnace, installs the new one with any venting and drain changes, commissions it and walks you through the thermostat. You have heat by the afternoon.

Do you offer financing?

Yes. We offer monthly payment plans on approved credit so a new system fits your budget, and we take care of rebate applications for you. See the rebates and financing page for details.

Can I keep my existing air conditioner?

Usually yes. The new furnace's blower has to be compatible with your existing evaporator coil and the AC's capacity, which we confirm during the free assessment. If the AC is also near the end of its life we'll show you the cost of doing both at once, which is almost always less than doing them separately.

Air Conditioning

4 questions
How much does AC repair cost?

You pay a flat diagnostic fee, which is waived if you go ahead with the repair. Common parts like capacitors and contactors are typically in the low hundreds installed. Refrigerant leak repairs and coil or compressor replacement cost considerably more, and for an older unit we'll show you the replacement price alongside so you can compare.

How much does a new air conditioner cost installed?

A central air conditioner installed in our area generally runs from the low four thousands to the high five thousands, depending on the size the house needs and the efficiency rating you choose. Ductless systems start lower for a single zone and go up with each additional room. Our quotes are free and in writing.

Why is my AC freezing up?

Two causes: not enough air moving across the coil, which is usually a dirty filter, a blocked return or a weak blower, or low refrigerant from a leak. Switch the cooling off and leave the fan on to thaw the coil, then book a call. Running it frozen can damage the compressor.

Should I replace my furnace and AC at the same time?

If both are past twelve to fifteen years, doing them together usually saves money: one install day, matched equipment that performs as rated, and a longer warranty. It also opens the door to a cold-climate heat pump, which replaces the AC outright and takes over most of the heating from the furnace.

Heat Pumps

4 questions
Do heat pumps really work in Ontario winters?

Yes. Cold-climate heat pumps are rated to deliver efficient heat at minus 25 and keep working below that. In our area they carry the heating load on all but a handful of extreme days, when a gas furnace or electric backup takes over. Thousands of homes in Simcoe County now heat this way.

How much does a heat pump cost installed?

A ducted cold-climate heat pump installed generally runs from the high six thousands to the low teens, before rebates, depending on the size of the house, whether it's a hybrid with an existing furnace, and the efficiency tier. Ductless systems start lower for a single zone. Rebates can take a meaningful amount off, and we quote both the before and after numbers.

Will a heat pump lower my bills?

For most homes, yes. Compared with natural gas a heat pump usually costs less to run across the shoulder seasons and much of the winter; compared with propane, oil or electric baseboards the savings are large. It also replaces your air conditioner with a more efficient one. We show you a projected annual cost using current local rates before you decide.

Do I need to replace my furnace to get a heat pump?

No. Most of our installations are hybrids that keep the existing furnace as backup. We confirm the furnace is in good condition and its blower is compatible with the heat pump coil during the free assessment.

Maintenance Plans

4 questions
What does the Comfort Club cost?

About seventeen dollars a month, or a little under two hundred dollars a year, covering a furnace and central air conditioner. Heat pumps, water heaters, second systems and ductless units can be added for a small amount each.

Is annual maintenance really necessary?

Yes. Most manufacturers require annual professional maintenance to keep the parts warranty valid. Beyond that, a tuned system breaks down about half as often, uses less gas and hydro, lasts longer, and gets its heat exchanger and carbon monoxide safety checked every year.

Can I cancel?

Yes. The plan renews once a year and we send a reminder before it does. Cancel any time by calling or texting.

When do the visits happen?

Furnace visits are scheduled in the fall, usually September and October, and air conditioner visits in the spring, usually April and May, so each system is ready before it's needed. We text you when it's time and you pick a slot.

Duct Cleaning & Air Quality

4 questions
How much does duct cleaning cost?

Pricing depends on the number of supply and return runs, but most houses in our area fall in the few-hundred-dollar range for a full cleaning. Dryer vent cleaning can be added to the same visit at a reduced price.

How often should ducts be cleaned?

Every five to seven years is typical. Do it sooner after a renovation, when you move into a house, or if pets, allergies or visible dust from the registers are an issue. Between cleanings, a good media filter keeps the system clean.

What is an HRV and do I need one?

A heat-recovery ventilator is a fan unit that exhausts stale indoor air and pulls in fresh outdoor air, passing them through a core that transfers the heat so you don't lose it. Homes built since the early 1990s are sealed tightly enough to need one, and older homes that have been air-sealed and re-insulated benefit too. Signs you need one: condensation on windows, lingering odours, stuffy air in winter.

Will a humidifier help with dry winter air?

Yes. A furnace-mounted humidifier adds moisture to the air as it's heated and keeps the whole house at a comfortable 30 to 40 percent humidity, which also makes the same thermostat setting feel warmer. Just keep it below 40 percent in deep cold to avoid window condensation.

Water Heaters

4 questions
How much does a new water heater cost installed?

A standard 40 or 50 gallon gas tank installed usually lands in the low to mid two thousands. Tankless systems cost more, depending on whether the gas line and venting need upgrading. We quote both, free, so you can compare.

Should I buy out my rental water heater?

In most cases, yes. Ten years of rental fees usually adds up to more than the cost of two new water heaters, and the contract often includes a buyout schedule that drops each year. We'll read the contract, tell you what it costs to exit, and quote a replacement you own.

How long does a water heater last?

A tank water heater typically lasts eight to twelve years. A tankless unit can last twenty or more if it's descaled annually, especially on well water. If your tank is past ten, replacing it on your terms beats mopping the basement.

Can you replace it today?

Usually, yes. We keep the most common tank sizes in stock and can typically replace a failed unit the same day in Alliston, New Tecumseth, Bradford and nearby. Call in the morning and you'll have hot water tonight.

24/7 Emergency Service

4 questions
Do you really answer at 3 a.m.?

Yes. The line is answered by a person at any hour, every day of the year. No-heat and no-cooling calls go straight to the on-call technician, who calls you back with an arrival time.

How much does an emergency call cost?

The after-hours diagnostic fee is higher than the daytime one, and we tell you the amount on the phone before anyone is sent. Repair prices come from the same flat-rate book we use during the day and you approve them before work begins. Comfort Club members pay no after-hours premium.

My furnace stopped and it's freezing. What should I check first?

Check that the thermostat is on heat and set above the room temperature, that the furnace power switch is on, that the breaker hasn't tripped, and that the filter isn't clogged. If it still won't run, call us. Don't keep resetting it; repeated attempts can make some faults worse.

My CO alarm is going off. What do I do?

Get everyone, including pets, out of the house right away and call 911 from outside. Do not go back in to open windows or look for the source. Once the fire department has cleared the house, call us to inspect the furnace, water heater and venting and fix whatever caused it.
